Steps for Removing and Replacing the Hard Disk Drive



Step 1 - Remove the Battery


  1. Slide and hold the battery release latch to the unlock position.
  2. Lift the front edge of the battery and remove it from battery bay.

Step 2 - Remove the Hard Disk Drive


  1. Loosen the two captive P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the hard disk drive cover to the bottom of the notebook.
  2. Use your finger or a flat-bladed tool to lift the inside edge of the hard disk drive cover and remove.
  3. Remove the two 5mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the hard disk drive to the base enclosure.
  4. Slide the hard disk drive toward the outside edge of the base enclosure to disconnect the hard disk drive from the system board connector.
  5. Lift the hard disk drive out of the bay. Place the hard disk drive in a static dissipative bag.

Step 3 - Replace the Hard Disk Drive


  1. Remove the hard disk drive from the static dissipative bag.
  2. Place the hard disk drive into the hard disk drive bay.
  3. Push the hard disk drive toward the inside of the base enclosure until the connector is seated.
  4. Replace the two 5mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the hard disk drive to the base enclosure.
  5. Toe the hard disk drive cover into the base enclosure and press the outside edge into position.
  6. Tighten the two captive P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the hard disk drive cover to the bottom of the notebook.

Step 4 - Replace the Battery


  1. Toe the rear edge of the battery into the base enclosure.
  2. Lower the front edge of the battery and press the battery into the battery bay until the release latch clicks.
